I made some collages with some of the botanical work I have photographed in the past to spread my inspiration.

The images in this collage are all plant clumps on the side of the road or on the walls of buildings. These plants are vigorous and persist in growing through the concrete. The contrast between the hard stone and concrete texture and the softness of the plants is striking.
I used markers to make some line sketches of the leaves on top of white paper, filling in some colours. Cutting regular squares out of brown textured paper to represent the bricks and stones and combined them with the painted leaves, like an extension of the wall blocks and plants in the photograph.

The second collage are about mosses. They appear in damp places and some
of the moss clumps produce many colour that make they look like a miniature forest.
I created the collage using the pictures first, then drew the bark of the large trees on brown textured paper using different coloured crayons, then overlaid the picture with tracing paper and drew some moss with markers.
I tried to keep the texture and plushness of the moss as much as possible while drawing, retaining the texture of it as it grew.

The third group are some plants and their shadows. It is interesting to see the shadows of the plants reflected in the light on the wall, changing the light source and the angle of view, the shadows change. In turn, looking at the light through the leaves changes the colour of the plant and the roots are clearly visible.
I used markers to draw the stems of the leaves on tracing paper and used coloured pencils to apply a light layer of colour, as if looking through the leaves into the light. I then combined them by layering them on top of each other to see how the colours changed when they were layered together. I also used grey pencils to draw shadows as if they were projected onto the paper through the light.
