I have collected a number of different shaped leaves from each of the parks around London. Most of them have a slightly rough texture. Each leaf vein is different in width, height and direction.

I concentrated my drawings on the leaf veins, using coloured pencils and acrylic markers on paper.

First time tried stitching, I chose a slightly rough cloth as the background for my stitching to get the rough texture of the leaf surface. As a practice sample, to avoid clutter, I hand stitched the main vein part of the leaf, using a beige sewing thread.
The finished product came out very delicate and textured but rather hard to the touch, I would have preferred something softer.
